Adding Short Stories to the Mix

With the new year I’m adding a new section: Short Stories.  Click that link or the tab above to check it out.  I’ll be posting my stories from time to time, broken up into easy-to-read chunks.  I hope you enjoy them.  And if you do, leave a comment and tell me about it!

Here’s the beginning of Shelter:

ShelterCo  LifePod 117 (Series 71823409926) activated its internal lighting, decompressed, and rotated its access door open in preparation to receive its client.  The client of LifePod 117 was female, aged twelve years, and courtesy-linked with the clients of LifePods 118 through 120.

“I don’t wanna go in there, Dad.”

LIfePod 117 activated its immediate-area ocular lens, and surveyed Bay 12.  It quickly identified Sheila Nevins, its client, by comparing her to the holographs, size and weight parameters, and voiceprint recorded when LifePod 117 was assigned to her.  She was addressing the client of LifePod 120, and body language, tonal inflection, heart rate, and perspiration levels indicated that she was in a distressed state.
